He Sees What They Can Do, Not What They Can’t Do

A father recognizes his children and knows that each of them is unique and different on his or her own. He sees them for who they are and the talents that God has given them, and he does not push them in directions not suited to their individual personalities or skill sets. When we find ourselves in a parenting role, it is our responsibility to discern an individual’s particular tendencies and talents and help him or her to develop in those areas.
Paul’s mentoring of Timothy is an example. Paul knew that Timothy, his son in the Lord, was gifted and had a pastoral call, but he didn’t try to make Timothy into an apostolic leader like himself. He encouraged him to follow his own calling. Timothy turned out to be the pastor of a vibrant and large church in Ephesus. Because Paul encouraged Timothy in what God had called him to do and not what he could not do or was not called to do, Timothy was able to fulfill the call of God on his life, reaching many, many souls for the kingdom of God.
I think we always need to look at our spiritual sons and daughters and see beyond the now, beyond the moment. We need to ask God about the future and the potential of that person, so that we can be a catalyst and an instrument in God’s hand to see His workings and fulfillment in our sons’ and daughters’ lives. It is a sobering thought to know that we have the power to help them fulfill a divine call.

For the past 20 years, George has had a background of senior leadership in pastoring local churches, administering a multi-faceted international ministry, serving as a Bible College Dean and, most recently, directing Public Relations for a national Canadian television ministry. George is also the Secretary Treasure of a national organization of Churches and Ministers called Open Bible Faith Fellowship and he and his wife founded and directed a ministry supporting persecuted Messianic Pastors and Congregations in Israel.      Both George and his wife Marilyn were born and raised in Southern Ontario. They have been married for 36 years and have two grown sons and four grandchildren. George has a heart to see Canada take its place in the world during these last days. George believes that God has a plan not only for revival in Canada, but also to use the nation’s multi-cultural Christian communities to impact the world. He believes that Christian Broadcasting Associates (700 Club Canada) has a mandate to see the Truth of the Gospel and the power of Holy Spirit, touch the nation at this critical time in our history.
George’s life scripture is II Timothy 2:1-2 which declares that we are to raise up able men and women that are in turn able to teach others.  He believes that this is the Father’s heart and the anointing of God is evident as George declares this truth.
He recognizes the responsibility we have to demonstrate the heart of the Father to this next generation.  “To raise up and mentor this next generation is a mandate we cannot ignore.”
